Hello Friend, I’m Councilman Sergio Farias. Welcome to my re-election campaign page.
For the last four years it has been my honor to serve as your Councilmember for District 1. I’ve been proud to also serve as Mayor of San Juan Capistrano.
Together, we’ve accomplished great things for our city, including:
- Major road improvements, enhanced safety features, and sidewalk repair in Capistrano Villas at Los Rios Street and La Zanja Street
- Beautification of Verdugo Street that included wider sidewalks, better lighting, and a more pedestrian friendly gateway to downtown
- Approved plans and specifications for the Northwest Open Space Community Park Project
- Widened and Improved Del Obispo Street and added bike lanes, this project was done on-time and under budget
- Applied for and received a nearly one million dollar grant for the city for trolleys to provide summer and special event trolley service for the next five years
- Converted over a thousand streetlights to LED fixtures that reduce energy costs
- Worked with my council colleagues to approve construction of the new 4 star Inn at the Mission Hotel, which is scheduled to open Fall 2020
- Approved the River Street Marketplace, an outdoor shopping and dining experience on the former Ito Nursery site
